After we took a rest at wantilan, we walked into the Temple of Segara through a paving block path. The Temple of Segara is a place to worship Dewa Baruna (The God of Ocean). There is a big pelinggih (shrine) of Dewa Baruna. The God of Ocean is visualized as a big fish with elephant head. May the God of Ocean protect us from the ferocity of the ocean and bless us with infinite ocean of love.

Then we walked into the Temple of Taman. This temple is surrounded by a beautiful pond with lot of lotus plants. One can enter the Temple of Taman via a small bridge with good-looking dragons sculpt. The holy water is sprinkled by the priest to purify our spirit. I thought that holy water comes from the pond.

After left the Temple of Taman, we continued the devotion to the Temple of Ratu Gede by following a concrete walking path. The Temple of Ratu Gede is located at west side of the Temple of Dalem Penataran Ped. This is a place to worship the Honored Ratu Gede Nusa or Ratu Gede Mecaling, a mighty Dalem (the King of Nusa Penida) in the past. May the Honored Ratu Gede Nusa bless us with braveness and self-confidence to cross the ocean of life.

Last but not least, we continued our spiritual journey to the Temple of Penataran Agung. This temple has many shrines inside, that are: Padmasana, and Gedong. Here is the holy place to worship the God Siwa Mahadewa (Siwa the Majestic God), and the Goddess Durga (as manifestation of supreme beauty and deadly power). May the worship in this temple bless us with the endless medium of life by the grace of God Siwa and Goddess Durga.

Here is a video about devotees of Ida Ratu Ayu (a manifestation of Goddess Durga) when they visited Temple of Dalem Penataran Ped. They walked together with gamelan ( a set of traditional music instrument).

On April 2008, I went to Nusa Penida with Mr. Made Sajayasa, the Head of Electrical Department of Politeknik Negeri Bali (PNB) accompanied with 13 staffs. Our goal is to get more information about renewable energy at Nusa Penida Island especially about wind and solar power plant.
We departed from Denpasar City at 7.00 a.m. by cars to Padang Bai Harbour through Ida Bagus Mantra Bypass. Using this bypass, it spent about 90 minutes to reach the harbour. Actually we could reach Nusa Penida Island from Sanur Beach, but we thought that the sea distance to Nusa Penida Island from Padang Bai Harbour is nearer than from Sanur Beach. So we decided to cross the Badung Strait to Nusa Penida Island from Padang Bai Harbour by boat.

The boat cost Rp 1,400,000 for two-way / return trip. We must went aboard unshoes since there was no special dock for boat. The boat has four engines and able to load up to 20 passengers. It was about 30 minutes on board to cross Badung Strait to reach Nusa Penida Harbour from here.
At Nusa Penida Harbour, we welcomed by the staff of Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Indonesian Government-Owned Electricity Company or PLN). From Nusa Penida Harbour, we continued the trip to the places of wind and solar power plants accompanied by the staff. The power plants are located at the top of Mundi Hill. Well, the driver must worked hard since the road is narrow, steep and curvy.
At Mundi Hill, there were seven wind turbines. Each of them has 80 kW nominal power and 400 Voltage. Some of them have two blades and others have three blades with 18 meter rotor diameter. The operating wind speed range is 3 m/second to 12 m/second. If the wind speed is 3 m/second, this power plant will produce 1 kWatt. Increases the wind speed up to 12 m/second will produce 80 kWatt. The blade has 0.6 kg weight and made from carbon fibre reinforced epoxy. It works automatically and controlled by Programmable Logic Control (PLC) system to get an accurate blade heading and produce electricity. and able to supply electricity using grid connection system.

When we visited the plant, The wind was blowing about 7 m/second. Here is the video of wind power plant at Mundi Hill in Nusa Penida Island.
What about the tower? The tower has 31 meter height and constructed using equal angle bar iron. It is firm, the same part for High Voltage Transmission Tower. So we do not worry about it's strength.

After collecting data from the staff, we continued the trip to the place of Solar Power Plant. It is located at Mundi Hill, too. It produces 32 kWatt peak electric power . The Solar Power Plant is equipped with 50 kVA transformator and interconnected with PLN network.

The uses of renewable energy using wind and solar power plant may reduce C02 and provide cheap electricity for the people of Nusa Penida Island.
